Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge: Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Die Flagge von Curaçao wurde am 02.07.1984 angenommen. Sie zeigt drei unterschiedlich breite Streifen in Blau, Gelb und Blau, bzw. ist einfarbig blau mit einem durchgehenden, schmalen gelben Streifen. In der Oberecke zwei unterschiedlich große weiße fünfzackige Sterne. Das Blau steht für die Karibische See, das Gelb für die Sonne und die beiden Sterne für die Inseln Curaçao und Klein Curaçao. Blau ist aber auch die Farbe der Treue und symbolisiert die Verbundenheit zur niederländischen Krone. The flag of Curaçao was adoped on 2nd of July in 1984. It shows three different wide stripes in blue, yellow and blue, resp. is single-coloured blue with an uninterrupted slender yellow stripe. In the upper staff quadrant two different large white five-pointed stars.
The blue stands for the Caribbean Sea, yellow for the sun and the both stars for the islands Curaçao and Little Curaçao. Blue is also the colour of the faithfulness and symbolizes the closeness to the Dutch crown.

Der Name "Curaçao" geht auf das portugiesische Wort "Coração" zurück, und bedeutet "Herz". Die Namensgebung ist eine Folge katholischer Inspiration im Sinne von "Heiliges Herz", womit das Herz von Jesus Christus gemeint ist. The name "Curaçao" has its roots in the Portugese word "Coração" what means "heart". The naming is a result of catholic inspiration in the sense of "Holy Heart", what means the heart of Jesus Christ.
