Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge: Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Wallis und Futuna hat, wie fast alle französischen Kolonien, keine eigene Flagge. Es muss die französische Trikolore gehisst werden. Für lokale Zwecke hat Wallis und Futuna eine inoffizielle Flagge. Sie ist rot mit der französischen Trikolore in der Oberecke und trägt im fliegenden Ende ein weißes stilisiertes Kreuz, welches wahrscheinlich von der Flagge des Königreiches Uvea entlehnt und entfremdet dargestellt wurde. Wallis and Futuna has not an own flag, like nearly every French colony. It must be used the French tricolour. For local purpose Wallis and Futuna has got an unofficial flag. She is red with the french tricolour in the upper canton and carrys a white stylized cross, which one is probably borrowed from the flag of the Kingdom of Uvea and is pictured disaffectely.
