Geographie, Bevölkerung, Sprache:
Batwa liegt im zentralen Ostafrika, im heutigen Rwanda. Die Batwa sind die Ureinwohner von Rwanda. Die heutige Batwa-Bevölkerung, basierend auf der Volkszählung der UNPO Ende 1994, beträgt zwischen 10.000 und 20.000. 1994, vor Völkermord und Krieg, gab es in Rwanda 7,3 Milionen Einwohner. Die Batwa machten 0,4% aus, etwa 20.000 Menschen. Die Hutu und die Tutsi betrugen 85% bzw. 14% der Gesamtbevölkerung. Wie alle Ruander sprechen die Batwa Kinjarwanda.		 Geography, population, language:
Batwa is located in central East Africa, in present-day Rwanda. The Batwa are the indigenous inhabitants of Rwanda. Today's Batwa population, based on the census of the UNPO end of 1994, is between 10.000 and 20.000. In 1994, before genocide and war, there was in Rwanda 7.3 millions inhabitants. The Batwa accounted for 0.4%, about 20.000 people. The Hutu and the Tutsi were 85% and 14% of the total population. Like all Rwandans speak the Batwa Kinjarwanda.
Organisationen:
Die Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Batwa (APB) repräsentiert die Batwa in der UNPO. Die Gemeinschaft der eingeborenen Völker Rwandas (CAURWA) vereinigt drei existierende Organisationen, einschließlich der APB.		 Organizations:
The Society for the Promotion of Batwa (APB) represents the Batwa in the UNPO. The Community of Indigenous Peoples of Rwanda (CAURWA) combines three existing organizations, including the APB.
Wirtschaft:
Der Haupterwerbszweig ist die Töpferei. Hauptexportgüter sind Kaffee, Tee und Zinn.		 Economy:
The main industry is the pottery. Main exports are coffee, tea and tin.
Gegenwärtige Situation:
Die Batwa erleiden weiterhin die Folgen des Völkermordes. Die Wiedergutmachung und Rehabilitation der Batwa-Gemeinden erfolgt langsam und unter großen Schwierigkeiten. Die Situation der Flüchtlinge hat sich nicht gebessert. Akte der Missachtung und Gewalt, besonders von Seiten ehemaliger rwandischer Soldaten und Milizen, sind in den Lagern an der Tagesordnung.		 Current situation:
The Batwa continue to suffer the consequences of the genocide. The reparation and rehabilitation of the Batwa community is slowly and with great difficulty. The situation of the refugees has not improved. Acts of disrespect and violence, especially by former Rwandan soldiers and militia, are in the camps on the agenda.
