Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge – Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Die Flagge wurde am 20.09.1995 angenommen, im Format 1:2. Am 06.12.1995 wurde noch eine kleine Veränderung an der Krone in der Oberecke vorgenommen. The flag was adopted on 20th of September in 1995, in the format-ratio of 1:2. On 6th of December in 1995 a small change was made to the crown in the upper corner.
Offenbar gibt es außer der offiziellen Flagge des Autonomen Kreises der Chanten und Mansen noch eine Flagge der jeweiligen Völker selbst. Über die Bedeutung und den Ursprung der Flaggen ist nichts bekannt. Obviously there is apart from the official flag of the Autonomous District of the Khanty and Mansi a flag of the respective nations oneself. About the meaning and the origin of the flags is nothing known.

Ursprung des Landesnamens – Origin of the Country's Name:
Die Chanten und Mansen sind zwei sehr eng verwandte finno-ugrische Völkerschaften. Die Russen nannten die Chanten früher "Ostjaken", und die Mansen "Wogulen". Die beiden Völker bezeichnen sich selbst als "Chanti" und "Mansi". Das wurde 1940 bei der Benennung des Territoriums berücksichtigt. The Khanty and Mansi, are two very closely related Finno-Ugric peoples. The Russians called the Khanty earlier "Ostyaks", and the Mansi "Voguls". The two nations call themselves as "Chanti" and "Mansi". That fact was remembered in 1940 at the rename of the territory.
