Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge – Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Die Flagge von Goshen zeigte drei waagerechte Streifen in Schwarz, Weiß und Rot und einen senkrechen grünen Balken am Liek. The flag of Goshen showed three horizontal stripes in black, white and red and a vertical green bar at the leech.
Als Vorbild könnte die Flagge von Transvaal gedient haben oder auch die des Deutschen Reiches, wenn auch in einer anderen Zusammenstellung und anderer Farbreihenfolge. The model for the designing of the flag could have been the flag of Transvaal or even the flag of the German Empire, but in an other combination and sequenze of colours.
Diese Flagge wurde offenbar trotz der Vereinigung mit der Burenrepublik Stellaland im Jahre 1883 beibehalten. This flag was obviously maintained though the union with the Boer's Republic of Stellaland in the year 1883.

Ursprung des Landesnamens: Origin of the Country's Name:
Der Name des Landes geht auf die biblische Landschaft Goshen (auch: Gosen) zurück. Dieses Land lag in Afrika zwischen dem Hauptarm des Nils und dem heutigen Suezkanal. Die Namensgebung lässt auf die religiösen Überzeugungen seiner Gründer schließen. The name of the country goes back to the biblical landscape Goshen (also: Gosen). This country lay in Africa between the main arm of the Nile and what is now the Suez Canal. The naming suggests the religious beliefs of its founders.
