Meaning/Origin of the Flag

The flag of the FAO shows a grain-plant (→ food) in a circle, with it the beginning-letters of the name of the organization and the latin words "FIAT PANIS", in English: "there will be bread". The colour of the ground-cloth is the UN-typical light-blue. It is azure-blue and is defined as follows: Hex #4B92DB, RGB 75|146|219, CMYK 71|37|0|0, Pantone 279.

The in 1945 founded Organization of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture is much better known by it's English shortcut FAO. FAO = Food and Agriculture Organization. The FAO has it's seat in Rome. The supreme organ is the in a two-years-rhythm arranged conference.
