Meaning/Origin of the Flag

The flag of the IMO shows two anchors bonded with a chain and the globe, enveloped by the UN-typical olive twigs, in an UN pale-blue bunting. It is azure-blue and is defined as follows: Hex #4B92DB, RGB 75|146|219, CMYK 71|37|0|0, Pantone 279.
