Explanation

Molvanîa is an imaginary country. An Australian team of authors has written a travel guide in 2004, with the name "Molvanîa – A Land untouched by modern dentistry". The country is described as a former Soviet republic in the Balkans, somewhere between Slovakia and Romania. All the ills of post-Soviet systems are caricatured here in a wonderful way, and even the mentality of the Balkans. A wonderfully politically incorrect book that is really recommended.

Meaning/Origin of the Flag

The flag of Molwanîa is called "Tricolore", although it consists of only two colors. It dates back to Soviet times, and shows two vertical stripes in red and yellow, and in the upper corner of the symbols of the Molvanîan communism: hammer, sickle and shovel.
