Die Islamische Zusammenarbeit The Islamic Cooperation:
Die OIC ist eine Organisation, die 1969 in Jiddah/Saudi-Arabien unter dem Namen Islamische Konferenz gegründet wurde. Sie ist ein lockerer Zusammenschluss von Ländern mit einer nennenswerten islamischen Bevölkerung. 1994 hatte die OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) insgesamt 51 Mitgliedsstaaten, 2023 waren es 57, darunter die meisten arabischen Staaten, die PLO, Albanien, zentralasiatische Staaten und einige Staaten in Afrika. Ziele sind u.a. Zusammenarbeit auf wirtschaftlichem, sozialem und kulturellem Gebiet, Kampf gegen Rassismus und Kolonialismus, Schutz der heiligen Stätten des Islam, Unterstützung der Palästinenser und Förderung des Verständnisses zwischen moslemischen und nicht-moslemischen Staaten. Am 28.06.2011 benannte sich die Islamische Konferenz um in Organisation für Islamische Zusammenarbeit. Das Kürzel OIC blieb erhalten. The OIC is an organisation founded in 1969 in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, under the name Islamic Conference.

It is a loose association of countries with a notable Islamic population. In 1994, the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) had a total of 51 member states; in 2023 there were 57, including most Arab states, the PLO, Albania, Central Asian states and some states in Africa.

Its goals include cooperation in the economic, social and cultural fields, the fight against racism and colonialism, the protection of the holy sites of Islam, support for the Palestinians and the promotion of understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim states.

On 28th of June in 2011, the Islamic Conference renamed itself the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The acronym OIC was retained.
