Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge: Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Galmudug verwendete zu Beginn die Flagge von Somalia. Die 2015 angenommene Flagge ist hellblau mit einem großen weißen Stern, einem weißen Dreieck am Mast mit zwei grünen Sternen darin. Galmudug used the flag of Somalia at the beginning. The flag adopted in 2015 is light blue with a large white star, a white triangle on the mast with two green stars in it.

Geschichte:
Der Staat Galmudug wurde am 14.08.2006 durch den Ältestenrat des Sacad-Clans ausgerufen. Mohammed Warsame Ali wurde zum Präsidenten ernannt. Im November 2006 zog Puntland – zu dem Galmudug bisher gehörte – seine Truppen aus der Region ab. Darauf hin wurde Galmugug von Truppen der radikalislamischen "Union islamischer Gerichte" bedroht, die mit Hilfe von Truppen Äthiopiens und Puntlands im November/Dezember 2006 zurückgeschlagen werden konnten. Galmudug stand loyal zur Zentralregierung in Mogadischu. Am 14.08.2012 wurde der Staat ein föderaler Teilstaat der neu proklamierten Bundesrepublik Somalia.

History:
The State of Galmudug was proclaimed on 14th of August in 2006 by the council of the elder of the Sacad-Clan. Mohammed Warsame Ali was nominated to president. In November 2006 Puntland – to which Galmudug hitherto belonged – withdrawed its troops from the region. After that Galmugug was endangered by troops of the radical-islamic "Union of Islamic Courts", which became striked back under support of troops of Ethiopia and Puntland in November and December 2006. Galmudug was loyal to the central government in Mogadishu. On 14th of August in 2012, the state became a federal constituent state of the newly proclaimed Federal Republic of Somalia.
