Zu Bedeutung und Ursprung der Flagge ist nichts bekannt. Die Farben haben offenbar keinen ethnischen Hintergrund, da die benachbarten ebenfalls christlichen Amhara die gleichen Farben verwenden. Daher haben die Farben möglicherweise einen christlichen Ursprung. Es gibt Parallelen zur Flagge des späten christlichen Römischen Reichs, zur Flagge des Byzantinischen Reichs und zur Flagge der urchristlichen Aramäer.	About meaning and origin of the flag is nothing known. The colours have obviously no ethnic background because the neighbouring and likewise christian Amhara use the same colours. From there have the colours have possibly a christian origin. There exist parallels to the flag of the laterly christian Roman Empire, to the flag of the Empire of Byzantium and to the flag of the pristine-christian Arameans.
