Die Flagge von Indiana war Sieger in einem Wettbewerb und wurde am 31.05.1917 eingeführt. Sie zeigt ein blaues Grundtuch und darauf eine Fackel, umgeben von einem äußeren Ring von dreizehn goldenen Sternen. Sie stehen für die dreizehn Kolonien die sich zu den USA zusammengeschlossen hatten. Ein innrer Ring aus sechs Sternen repräsentiert die Staaten die bis zum Eintritt von Indiana folgten, wobei der große Stern für Indiana selbst steht. Die Fackel symbolisiert Freiheit und Aufklärung. | The flag of Indiana was
the winner in a competition and was introduced on 31st of May in 1917. It shows a blue bunting and on it a torch, surrounded by an outer ring of thirteen golden stars. They stand for the first thirteen colonies which had united into the United States. An inner ring of six stars represents the states that followed until the joining of Indiana, where is the big star for Indiana herself. The torch symbolizes freedom and enlightenment. |
