| Die Flagge von Kansas wurde am 23.03.1927 eingeführt. Sie zeigt ein einfarbig blaues Grundtuch und in der Mitte, auf einer Scheibe, die wichtigsten Elemente des Staatssiegels. Darüber eine Sonnenblume auf einem gelb-blauen Wulst. | The flag of Kansas was introduced on 23rd of March in 1927. It shows a single coloured blue bunting and in the middle, on a disk, the main elements of the state seal. Above a sunflower on an yellow and blue torus. |
| Das Staatssiegel zeigt eine Landschaft mit einem pflügenden Bauern (Landwirtschaft), einem Fluss mit einem Raddampfer (Handel), zwei Planwagen auf dem Weg nach Westen (Besiedlung) und eine Büffelherde und zwei Indianer auf Pferden (Geschichte). Am Himmel der Landschaft 34 Sterne und ein Spruchband mit dem Motto des Landes: "Ad astra per aspera" (Über Hindernisse zu den Sternen). Kansas war 1861 als 34ster Staat der Union beigetreten. | The state seal shows a landscape with a plowing farmer (agriculture), a river with a steamer (trade), two vans on the road to the west (settlement) and a buffalo herd and two Indians on horses (history). In the sky of the landscape are placed 34 stars, and a banner with the motto of the country: "Ad astra per aspera" (To the stars through difficulties). Kansas had joined the Union in 1861 as 34th state. |
| Die Sonnenblume ist die Staatsblume von Kansas. Daher auch der Spitzname des Landes, der "Sonnenblumenstaat". Der gelb-blaue Wulst soll an den Louisiana-Kauf erinnern, als Französisch Louisiana im Jahre 1803 von Frankreich an die USA verkauft wurde. | The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas. From this comes the nickname of the country, the "Sunflower State". The yellow-blue torus should remember the Louisiana Purchase, as French Louisiana in 1803 was sold by France to the United States. |
| Kansas hat auch ein Staatsbanner. Es zeigt ein einfarbiges blaues Grundtuch mit einer Sonnenblume in der Mitte. Die Sonnenblume ist die Staatsblume von Kansas. Die Flagge wurde 1925 geschaffen und 1953 erneut festgelegt. Das Banner steht nicht höher und auch nicht tiefer im Rang als die Staatsflagge. Angeblich wurde es als Variante der Staatsflagge entworfen, die man unkompliziert und schnell auch vertikal hissen oder aufhängen kann. | Kansas also has a state
