Jackson Massaker). Eine Landesarmee die Missouri State Guard wurde
gegründet, um die Angriffe abzuwehren. Andere Truppen kämpften in eigenen Verbänden in
Kreuz.
With the decision of
the officially disbanded Parliament of Missouri (hence his decisions were officially not
recognized) on 28th of October in 1861 to secede from the United States and to join
the Southern Confederacy (CSA) on 28th of November in 1861, the civil war was carried into
in the country. The people stood mostly on the side of the Confederacy and more than
60.000 men fought voluntarily on the side of the CSA. The troops of the Northern States (USA) operated with extremely
high hardness in the country and against the civilian population (Camp Jackson Massacre).
A national army the Missouri State Guard was formed to fend off the attacks.
Other troops were fighting in their own groups in the army of the CSA under the battle
flag of Missouri, a red edged blue bunting (except at the mast) with a large white Latin
Cross moved towards the mast.
After the CSA had since
1864 no troops in Missouri, the Missouri Partisan Rangers continued their battle to
protect the population. They had a plain black flag with a white "Q" in the
upper canton. It stood for William C. Quantrill, the leader of the militia. |
