Die heutige Flagge von Nordkarolina wurde am 09.03.1885 eingeführt. Sie zeigt zwei waagrechte Streifen in Rot und Weiß und am Liek einen senkrechten blauen Balken. Im Balken ein weißer Stern und die Initialen des Landes "N" und "C". Ober- und unterhalb die beiden wichtigen Daten "20. Mai 1775" und "12. April 1776, das sind die Mecklenburger Unabhängigkeitserklärung und die Resolutionen von Halifax. Sie erinnert in ihrer Gestaltung an die "Stars and Bars" der Konföderierten Staaten von Amerika (CSA), denen Nordkarolina zwischen 1861 und 1865 angehört hat. | The current flag of
North Carolina was introduced on 9th of March in 1885. It shows two horizontal stripes of
red and white and at the leech a vertical blue bar. In the bar, a white star and the
initials of the country, "N" and "C". Above and below the two important dates "20th May 1775" and "12th April 1776, these are the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence and the Resolutions of Halifax. It remembers in its design the "Stars and Bars Flag" of the Confederate States of America (CSA), to which North Carolina belonged from 1861 to 1865. |
Die erste eigene Flagge von Nordkarolina wurde im Zusammenhang mit der Erklärung der Unabhängigkeit von den USA am 20.05.1861 eingeführt. Sie zeigte zwei waagrechte Streifen in Blau und Weiß und am Liek einen senkrechten roten Balken. Im Balken ein weißer Stern die beiden wichtigen Daten "20. Mai 1775" und "20. Mai 1861. Der Name "Carolina" (anfangs auch Carolana) wurde dem Land von Sir Robert Heath zu Ehren des englischen Königs Karl I. im Jahre 1619 gegeben, und zwar aus der lateinischen Form des Namens heraus, nämlich "Carolus". Im Jahre 1710 wurde das Land in Nordkarolina und Südkarolina geteilt. | The name

Heath in honor of King Charles I., out of the Latin form of the name, namely

Nach anderen Quellen brachten bereits die Franzosen um 1562 den Namen in das Land, als sie es zu Ehren ihres Königs Karl IX. (Charles) benannten. | According to other
