Macken gehörte einst zum Beltheimer Gericht und war ein Kondominium unter der gemeinsamen Herrschaft des Kurfürstentums Trier (rotes Kreuz auf Weiß), der Herzöge von Pfalz-Zweibrücken und der Grafen von Metternich-Winneburg-Beilstein.

Macken once belonged to the Beltheim court and was a condominium under the common rule of the Electorate of Trier (red cross on white), the dukes of Pfalz-Zweibrücken and the Counts of Metternich-Winneburg-Beilstein. Flaggen sind auf jeden Fall ein Mittel der Identifikation. Man identifiziert sich – wenn überhaupt – immerhin mit der eigenen Nation, und hisst am Flaggenmast in seinem Vorgarten die Nationalflagge.
