Meaning/Origin of the Flag

The in 2001 introduced flag of Putrajaya shows three vertical stripes in blue, yellow and blue. The yellow middle stripe is double wide how one blue. In the middle of the flag appears the coat of arms of Malaysia. About the meaning or origin of the colours of the flag is nothing known. On 26th of May in 2006 was additionally introduced a common flag for the three Malaysian federal territories. It shows three horizontal stripes in yellow, blue and red and in the middle of the blue stripe of the coat of arms with three stars below it, representing the three federal territories. The colors of the flag are the colors of Malaysia, like they appear on the national flag of the country, but in a different arrangement.

Origin of the Country's Name

The name of the area is made up of two components: 1st one part of the name of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra, 2nd the word "jaya", which means "success" or "perfection".
