Flag of the Empire of the Khazars,

The alleged flag of the Khazar Empire was blue and showed, among other things, five stars in the upper corner. The color Blue, the national color of the Mongols, Tatars and Turks, points to the origins of the people of the Khazars.

The Khazars (also: Chasars, Chozars, Khazars, Khazars, Kazar, Hazarlar) were an originally nomadic Turkic people who probably came from Central Asia. They probably, and at least partially, settled in western Central Asia, the northern Caucasus and parts of Eastern Europe in the 7th century A.D. In this process, they established an independent khaganate (khanate) in the northern Caucasus and followed many different religions: Judaism, Tengrism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and nature-religious paganism. The Khanate was an important ally of the Byzantine Empire in the struggle against the Arab Caliphate. In the 10th century (968/969), the capital Atil (located about 120 km from the present-day city of Astrakhan) was conquered by Kievan Rus and the empire fell into decline.
