Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge:	Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Die heutige Flagge Udmurtiens wurde am 03.12.1993 eingeführt. Sie zeigt drei senkrechte Streifen in Schwarz, Weiß und Rot, und in der Mitte des weißen Streifens ein rotes, achteckiges Sonnensymbol. Schwarz steht für die Erde und für Beständigkeit, Weiß für das Universum und für Reinheit, Rot für die Sonne und für Leben. Das rote Sonnensymbol ist ein Schutzzeichen, es soll vor Unglück bewahren.	The today’s flag of Udmurtia was introduced on 3rd of December in 1993. It shows three vertical stripes in black, white and red and in the middle of the white stripe a red eighth-pointed sun symbol. Black stands for the earth and for stability, white for the universe and for purity, red for the sun and for live. The red sun symbol is a protectional sign. It should preserve against misfortune.

Das heutige Wappen Udmurtiens wurde am 19.05.1994 eingeführt. Es zeigt eine rot-schwarze Scheibe mit einer geflügelten Figur und Sonnensymbolen. Es ist von einem Band in den Landesfarben umgeben. Am unteren Rand, in kyrillischen Buchstaben, der Name des Landes in Russisch und Udmurtisch.	The today’s coat of arms of Udmurtia was introduced on 19th of May in 1994. It shows a red-black disk with a winged figure and sun symbols. It is surrounded by a border in the country's colours. At the lower border the name of the country in Russian and Udmurt in cyrillic letters.

Der Name "Udmurtien" geht auf das finno-ugrische Volk der Udmurten zurück. "Udmurte" heißt übersetzt "Mensch vom Stamme der Ud". Eine alte russische Bezeichnung für die Udmurten ist "Wotjaken".	The name "Udmurtia" has its roots in the finno-ugric nation of the Udmurt. "Udmurte" means "Human from the tribe of Ud". An old Russian denomination for the Udmurts is "Votyaks".
