Bedeutung/Ursprung der Flagge – Meaning/Origin of the Flag:
Die Flagge des Volksstaates geht direkt auf die Flaggen von Reuß ältere Linie und Reuß jüngere Linie zurück. Beide Staaten benutzen ebenfalls eine schwarz-rot-goldene Flagge. The flag of the People's State Reuss goes directly back to the flags of Reuss Senior Line and Reuss Junior Line. Both states used likewise a black-red-golden flag.

Bedeutung/Ursprung des Wappens – Meaning/Origin of the Coat of Arms:  
Der Volksstaat Reuß wird die Tradition der Wappen der beiden Landesteile, aus denen er hervorging (Reuß ältere Linie und Reuß jüngere Linie), fortgesetzt haben, die beide das gleiche Wappen nutzten. The people's state of Reuss will have continued the tradition of the coats of arms of the two parts of the country from which it originated (Reuss Senior Line and Reuss Junior Line), both used the same coat of arms.
Es zeigt im kleinen Wappen die mittelalterliche Heraldik der Vögte von Weida (die Grafen Reuß), einen goldenen Löwen mit roter Bewehrung und einer roten Krone auf einem schwarzen Schild. Das mittlere Wappen der Reussischen Lande zeigt im Schild eine Vierteilung und Kombination des Löwenwappens mit einem Kranich (Kranichfeld). It shows in the lesser coat of arms the medieval heraldry of the Bailiffs of Weida (the Counts of Reuss), a golden lion with red claws, a red tongue and a red crown on a black shield. The middle coat of arms of the Reussian Estates shows on the shield a quartering and combination out of the lion's arms with a crane (Kranichfeld).
