Die Bukowina verwendet die Flagge des alten Fürstentums Moldau, zu dem es bis 1775 gehörte. Von dessen Wappen wurden auch die Farben entnommen. The Bucovina uses the flag of the old Principality of Moldavia, to which it belongs until 1775. From its coat of arms were taken the colours.

Ursprung des Landesnamens: Origin of the Country's Name:
Die Bezeichnung "Bukowina" stammt aus dem Mittelalter und heißt "Buchenland". Sie bezog sich auf die früher hier vorherrschenden Buchenwälder. The denomination "Bukovina" descends from the middle ages and means "beech tree country". It points out to the earlier here predominant forests of beech trees.
